Carnival Vista Celebrates Her New Homeport in Galveston

Carnival Cruise Line moved their popular Carnival Vista ship over 1,000 miles from Miami to her new homeport in Galveston, Texas on Sunday September 23rd, 2018. This is now the largest ship to ever be docked in the well-known cruise port. Overseeing this momentous occasion was Carnival Cruise Line’s President, Christine Duffy, along with the ship’s Godmother, Deshauna Barber.
“The Carnival Vista brings Texas-sized fun to Galveston for guests of all ages and we are thrilled to celebrate her arrival and show our appreciation for the local community,” Duffy announced. “Carnival is Texas’ number one cruise operator and positioning one of our newest ships, Carnival Vista in Galveston it underscores our commitment to growing this key market.”

The homecoming celebration also brought travel agents and local officials, as well as military families supported by Operation Home Front. To show support to the community, Carnival donated $10,000 to the Houston SPCA, as well as $10,000 to the Houston Food Bank. To show his gratitude for Galveston being selected as Vista’s new home, Mayor Pro Tem Craig Brown presented Duffy with a key to the city, and proclaimed September 23rd as “Choose Fun Day”- a nod towards Carnival’s successful tagline.
Carnival Vista is part of the line’s largest and newest fleet of ships, featuring an expansive and thrilling water park, two new dining venues developed by Food Network star Guy Fieri, the SkyRide aerial bike ride, an IMAX theater, a totally unique onboard brewery, and the Family Harbor accommodations with larger staterooms and lounge area that has been a hit with guests who have a larger crew in tow.
From Galveston, Carnival Vista is currently offering two distinct week-long western Caribbean itineraries which will visit the regions most dreamed- about destinations. The first itinerary includes stops in Montego Bay; Grand Cayman and Cozumel, while the other features visits to Mahogany Bay (Isla Roatan), Belize and Cozumel.
Carnival Vista is joining Carnival Freedom and Carnival Valor with departures from Galveston year-round. Together, these three ships operate more than 200 sailings each year, carrying more than 600,000 passengers annually – the most in cruising.
