Silversea’s fleet is known as having some of the smallest ships in the cruising industry, but they are also some of the most welcoming and luxurious vessels.
Silver Discoverer accommodates just 120 guests per sailing. This ensures every passenger gets immediate attention and no concern is ever left waiting. In fact, on this ship there is one crew member for every 1.25 passengers.
The seven-deck ship has 62 suites, each with butler service, fully stocked refrigerators, Pratesi bed linens and bathrooms decorated in marble. There are several public spaces including the formal restaurant and casual poolside grill, along with a salon, a fitness center and a massage room on Deck 7.
Silversea Cruises, which is based in Monaco, has a very European feel and is owned and operated by the Lefebvres, a Roman family. They chose  Elda Turco Bulgherini, a professor of navigation law at the University of Rome, as the ship’s godmother. The ship was christened in Singapore and the celebrations included a Chinese lion dance and bhangra folk dancers.

There will also be a few sailings in Southeast Asia visiting remote spots like Sandakan, Malaysia and Pare Pare in Indonesia. The Silver Discoverer will also sail two of Silversea’s newest itineraries: Micronesia and Melanesia; and the Russian Far East.
Are you an explorer at heart? If so, a Silversea Expedition cruise is a must. Which of the Silver Discoverer’s itineraries is most appealing to you?
