Norwegian Cruise Line just launched their latest ship, the Norwegian Getaway, to much fanfare. And it seems Norwegian Cruise Line is responding to customer demand caused by the great reviews received by the Getaway and her sister ship the Breakaway. It is with much excitement that Norwegian Cruise Line’s headquarters announced that their next ship, the Norwegian Escape, will be home ported in Miami with the Getaway. On top of that, the cruise line was able to show pictures of the hull design for the ship.
The hull will be designed by Guy Harvey, a marine wildlife artist. Harvey uses his former life as a marine biologist as inspiration for his art. He also started the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation to support ocean conservation.
The hull will be designed with the images of sea creatures and Harvey hopes it brings attention to endangered marine animals. “The large scale mural demonstrates the concern and respect that Norwegian and I have for the marine environment through which this ship will travel over the years,” Harvey said.
Norwegian Escape, which will debut in October 2015, will also feature documentaries that Harvey has produced that concern endangered marine wildlife.
Norwegian Cruise Line isn’t the only cruise line focusing on design. The luxurious Seabourn cruise line is planning to debut a new ship in 2016 and they’ve hired acclaimed designer Adam Tihany to design the ship’s interior and exterior spaces. Tihany is known for creating spaces in hotels like the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas.
Tihany said in a press release that he likes to take the brand’s personality into account when designing. “My goal is to design a beautiful, and very uniquely Seabourn ship, one that will reflect Seabourn’s aura of casual elegance and thoughtful attention to detail, that will make their guests feel welcome and invite them to experience Seabourn’s special brand of ultra-luxury,” he said.
This ship will be Seabourn’s largest, at roughly 26% larger than their three current ships.
