On November 26, 2018, MSC Cruises made the first cut of steel for their newest build, MSC Seashore. This will be the first ship in the MSC Seaside EVO-class. This will be a new subsection of the Seaside-class, featuring 200 additional cabins, more dining options, and a larger area for members of the MSC Yacht Club.
However, the pride of this ship for MSC Cruises is the advanced technology that minimizes the environmental impact of the ship. MSC Cruises notes a variety of environmentally-friendly modifications to the ship:
- Selective catalytic reduction system
- Exhaust gas cleaning technology
- High-tech waste management and recycling systems
- Advanced water treatment systems
- Energy and heat recovery systems
These advancements, along with technology to measure efficiency, further MSC Cruises’ commitment to sustainability.
“MSC Seashore is an example of our commitment to bringing the most innovative and technologically-advanced tonnage to the sea, and will be bestowed with the latest and best maritime and environmental technology available,” stated MSC Cruises’ Executive Chairman Pierfrancesco Vago.
“MSC Seashore is designed to impress: first of all due to her size, she will be by far the largest ship ever built in Italy, allowing us to further increase our management standards, but even for her top-class technological level,” adds Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri. “She is a prototype that we developed based on a one-of-a-kind and hugely successful platform as Seaside is demonstrating to be.”
The 5,635 passenger ship is the largest ever built in Italy and is expected to be delivered in Spring 2021.
