It seems like MSC Cruises is ready to make some waves in the cruising industry in 2013, after a slew of announcements in the past few weeks. From exciting entertainment to onboard fitness to Eataly, it should be an exciting year for the MSC faithful. Let’s take a look at what’s ahead for MSC Cruises.
Eataly Partnership
Following in line with their European-influence and Mediterranean flair, MSC Cruises has teamed up with the Italian chain/school/e-store, Eataly, to introduce two restaurants and a fresh marketplace onboard the MSC Divina.
This comes as a follow-up to the extremely successful integration of the epicurean emporium on the Divina‘s sister-ship, the MSC Preziosa. The two unique dining venues on the Divina will include the Ristorante Italia and the Manzo, which is a modeled after the company’s New York steakhouse. The boutique Eataly marketplace will offer authentic Italian/artisan products onboard–a first in the cruising industry.
Aqua Cycling
Calling all spinners! MSC has stepped up, or should we say pedaled up, to become the first cruise line and ship (MSC Divina) to offer Aqua Cycling. That’s right, stationary bicycles that go in the pool. Italian company Hydrorider has given a new face to onboard exercise, delivering their stainless steel pool cycles to the MSC Divina for training, classes, and a whole lot of fun.
Healthy Eats
In addition to their recent announcement of the Eataly partnership, MSC will also be focusing on healthy eating on the Divina. Each meal will bring new and exciting healthy options, ranging from light to filling, including starters, vegetarian choices, whole-grain and gluten-free dishes, even in the main dining rooms.
Also, their new “Five Colors of Well-Being” will guide the health-conscious to nutritious drinks, spa treatments and food selections using colors. The colors are Blue/Violet for cleansing, Green for relaxing, Red for anti-aging, White for purity and Yellow/Orange for beautiful skin.
New Entertainment
Eataly, Aqua Cycling and Healthy Eats weren’t enough for MSC Cruises it seems, as they deliver even more value to their darling Divina with a revamped entertainment selection and focus.
Cruisers can now enjoy productions that feature 30 performers (including dancers, singers, musicians and visual acts) that will be influenced by the itinerary or guest nationality. In the Caribbean, that could mean island bands, cultural shows (pier-side), or even a professional dance competition. In the Mediterranean, “Italian Days” will strongly reflect the music, dance, cuisine and culture of the region with Italian-themed dinners, shows, language lessons, dance demonstrations and even cooking lessons!
Even younger guests will be provided for with Teen’s Dance Party, Hey Mr. DJ Hip-Hop and MSC Flashmob, or for junior club guests, Kids Bingo, Fairytales Time or live talent shows.
