This May, the City by the Bay is getting a permanent visitor on its coastline. No, not more sea lions or seagulls. San Francisco is going to be the home port for the new and improved Grand Princess.
May 2013 will mark the first time that a Princess ship has called San Francisco home for an entire year. The ship, which just came out of dry dock, will be sailing to Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico with stops along the California coast.
“Our Bay Area passengers and travel agents have long been asking for more cruise options from San Francisco and our new year-round schedule with Grand Princess will now give them a great selection of itinerary choices,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises’ executive vice president.
From May to September 2013 the ship will offer 10-day cruises to Alaska, then from September to March the ship will offer 10-day itineraries to the Mexican Riviera. From October 2013 to April 2014 Princess will take 12 15-day trips to Hawaii.
Do you find having a ship docked in your city makes it easier to get away?
