Royal Caribbean Introduces Godfamily for Symphony of the Seas

Royal Caribbean is shaking up maritime tradition for its newest ship, Symphony of the Seas. Instead of a godmother, Symphony of Seas will be christened by actors Carlos and Alexa PenaVega, along with their 17-month-old son Ocean. It’s the first godfamily to ever christen a ship.

Symphony of the Seas won’t be the first Royal Caribbean experience for the PenaVega family.  The couple got engaged on Oasis of the Seas and celebrated a babymoon on Allure of the Seas. In fact, Carlos PenaVega has been sailing with Royal Caribbean for almost 25 years and took his first cruise at 4 years old. His son Ocean sailed for this first time at just 13 months!
The PenaVegas will christen Symphony of the Seas when she arrives to PortMiami this November, where they will ceremoniously break a bottle of champagne and invite good luck on future voyages.
