No, not actual cats. Let’s clarify – Cats, the hit Broadway musical, will be performed aboard the Oasis of the Seas starting this fall after the mega ship undergoes a little renovation.
Royal Caribbean has always been a leader when it comes to producing Broadway musicals on their ships. For instance, you can currently find productions of Chicago, Hairspray, Saturday Night Fever and Mamma Mia! aboard their fleet. Adding Cats offers another high energy award-winning production to their line up.
About the Show:
Cats
ranks as the second longest running Broadway show, having performed more than 7,000 performances from 1982 to 2000. In its debut year, Cats won seven Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards. Cats is from the theater genius Andrew Lloyd Webber, who wrote music to go along with T.S. Eliot’s series of poems called Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats. Perhaps the must enduring aspects of cats is the song “Memory.”
