The Cruise Web’s Managers Cut a Rug

On Saturday, March 3rd, The Cruise Web’s management team swung over to Arthur Murray Studios in Columbia, MD for an exclusive Managers’ Ballroom Dance group lesson and practice party. The afternoon lesson was led by three instructors and included a special in-studio break with sandwiches, drinks and snacks.

In addition to teaching some new dance moves, the lesson provided a practical metaphor for working with our clients. “It is not enough to take the right steps – you have to also take those steps in harmony with the client,” stated The Cruise Web’s President and founder, Frans Hansen. “Fast steps, slow steps, big steps, small steps, bouncy steps and smooth steps – whatever it is, we and our clients need to step together and in harmony!”

Mike Harris, one of the Sale Managers participating in the lesson, summed it up this way: “There are few things more humbling in life than a dance lesson. Ballroom dancing is a great lesson for someone who tends to overlook details, as I do. Like a golf swing, there are seemingly hundreds of small things that can make a big difference. Overall, it was lots of fun! My wife was lucky to escape without significant injury to her feet, and I was lucky to take home some much needed dance moves.”

Dear Mike H: I try to read the cruise web news letter once in a while. So you are the next Fred Astaire ?? I thought the article was very interesting. I just put a down payment on a 4 day mini cruise in October from Vancouver B.C. to San Diego with Jennifer C. She is real nice and very good at her job. My better half Janie and I don’t cruise much. Janie and I sure do like it a lot though. I am a very bad client. Poor Jennifer she gets stuck trying to keep in step with me. She would like to get rid of me I think. I have changed my mind a lot and cancelled quite a few cruises, but this mini cruise is for sure!! I hope to do some more cruises in the future as well. I like using your company. It is a blessing to me since I don’t cruise much. Perhaps in time I will be a better client to work with? Have a nice day.

Hi Ron! I haven’t heard from you in a while! I hope all is well with you and Janie. I’m far from Fred Astaire but, I’m better off after the lesson!

You are not a bad client! In fact, you were one of my favorites when I was in sales. I’m glad to hear that Jen is taking good care of you. I wanted her to take over your account specifically because I knew you’d want someone to be as responsive as I was when we worked together. Congrats on the cruise booking (I hope this one sticks). Maybe one day when you retire and Boeing gives you that monster pension, you and Janie can do something a bit longer.
