    This summer, tantalizing new dishes from Holland America Line’s esteemed Culinary Council will begin to be featured on the main dining room menu of the line’s 15 ships. The six Culinary Council chefs are each providing recipes for signature dishes and desserts that showcase their expertise and specialties.
    Culinary Council members include Council Chairman and Holland America Line Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, along with renowned international chefs Jonnie Boer, David Burke, Marcus Samuelsson, Jacques Torres and Charlie Trotter.

    When I stayed in the Courtyard Villa on the Norwegian Epic my butler James was so amazing. My sundress strap broke and I asked him to take it to the cleaners on the ship. He said, “No, I will have my friend Ming sew it for you.” The next morning he brought it to me and it was perfect. I feel like he went far above and beyond.

  • Sticky Fingers at The Cruise Web

    On Friday, March 11th The Cruise Web celebrated its first ever “Sticky Finger Friday.” Rather than going on a “sticky finger” burglary spree, however, we got sticky digging into cinnamon buns and other breakfast treats. And how exactly did “Sticky Finger Friday” get started? Like everything great that happens at The Cruise Web, it was a team effort. First came the idea to get cinnamon buns on a Friday because, well, we wanted them – eating cinnamon buns should never have to be justified.

    Vacationing foodies can now choose from a range of culinary experiences aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise. Royal Caribbean International is partnering with renowned Chefmakers Cooking Academy, a cooking school dedicated to aspiring home cooks of all ages, to bring unique cooking programs to guests, who can share in fond family vacation memories and learn practical skills that can be applied day-to-day. Available now aboard Liberty of the Seas and beginning in the fall aboard Freedom of the Seas, guests, at an additional cost, can choose from over a dozen Chefmakers at Sea classes that are taught in the actual galleys of the ship.

  • Oceania Cruises Announces 'Pillars of Distinction' Fleet Updates

    Oceania Cruises has launched a multi-million dollar initiative to update and enhance its award-winning fleet. The comprehensive “Pillars of Distinction” program – the most significant product investment in the company’s history – centers on the three hallmarks of the Oceania Cruises experience: comfort, cuisine and service.
    The 684-guest Nautica, the first Oceania Cruises ship to undergo its Pillars of Distinction update, re-entered service June 4. Sister ship Insignia will incorporate Pillars of Distinction this November and Regatta in January 2011. All work will occur during regularly scheduled dry-docks.
