             We recycle everything we can and we avoid wasting water.

I replaced all of my incandescent light bulbs with energy-efficient fluorescent bulbs.

I use a refillable water-bottle and thermos to cut back on waste. Bottled water is a scam anyways.

We have a compost bin in our yard and we use as soil in our gardens.

We have saved a lot by recycling out bath/hand towels and using them more than once – saves energy and water too!

Mary { 03.23.11 at 5:23 pm }

I purchased a rainbarrel to catch the runoff from our roof – use it to water my plants .

We have gardened organically for over 35 years growing most of our own veggies, some fruit as well. My father and grandfathers did the same! Now our children do and are teaching their children!
We have recycled everything possible for years, compost for the garden, and so on.

I switched the majority of the light bulbs in my house over to the CFL type from incandescants. Janie my wife does not like the color of the CFL bulbs ( too white), but she agrees that lasting up to 8X longer and using 1/3 of the energy for the same amount of luminescence is hard to beat. Plus incandescant bulbs will be banned in the U.S.A. in 2014 as they already are in Europe and Brazil.
