  • My Cruise Ship Wedding

I cannot believe it has already been 3 years since our wedding on board the Crown Princess. Looking back, I must say that it was a truly great and stress-free experience.
My wife and I knew at the onset that we did not want the big traditional wedding. Hosting such a big event and especially planning for it was not something that appealed to us. Having been in the cruise industry for a short while already, I knew how popular cruise ship weddings were. After doing some research, we agreed: there is no better way to celebrate our love than to get married in the middle of the ocean surrounded by our family and closest friends.

  • My Favorite Places to Shop When I Cruise

Two of my favorite places to shop when I cruise are the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera. In addition to the warm sun and sandy beaches, I love the great shopping opportunities there are in each destination. So, what is there to buy in the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera? It all depends on where your cruise takes you.
St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands and St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles
These two Eastern Caribbean destinations are a Mecca for jewelry shopping. Whether you are looking for diamonds, precious gem stones, or watches – there is a wide variety of stores in each of these ports-of-call that will vie for your business. Also, check out the following jewelry stores for unique items, found only in the Caribbean: St. Thomas – Bernard K. Passman, home to hand carved black coral jewelry; and in St. Maarten – Majesty Jewelers, home to the Kabana Collection, gorgeously inset mother of pearl.

  • My First Christmas Cruise

Never in a million years would I ever think of spending the December holidays any place other than at home….. until last December when my family spent Christmas on the Ruby Princess.
When I first made the reservations I had second thoughts. I wondered how other family members would react without us there, at home. Would my two teenagers miss spending Christmas morning in their Bethesda, MD home? Would it really “feel” like Christmas being so far away from home?

  • Enjoying Thanksgiving at Sea

In 2006 I completed a series of classes that upon graduation, entitled me to a free cruise. The problem was that, these cruises were few and far between and only available on a first come first serve basis. Last summer an announcement came out about some availability and I jumped right on it without even knowing where or when. Much to my amazement, after trying for almost two years, I actually got through. The ship was Cunard’s QM 2 and there was a transatlantic and a Caribbean sailing that I could choose from. I selected the Caribbean, it was an 8 day leaving from New York and returning to Ft Lauderdale. The sail date was Nov 21, 2008 and it was only then that I realized I would be away over Thanksgiving. Hmm, what to do now.
