Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Norwegian Cruise Line CEO Kevin Sheehan announced that Norwegian Cruise Line’s new state-of-the-art 4,000 passenger ship, Norwegian Breakaway, will make New York City its year-round home port. Beginning in May 2013, Norwegian Breakaway – which will be the largest ship ever to home port in the City – will replace Norwegian Star, and embark on a minimum of 88 cruises from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal through March 31, 2015. The ship calls will bring an estimated 140,000 additional embarking passengers into New York City over two years, resulting in an estimated $35 million in additional direct spending. Mayor Bloomberg and Norwegian Cruise Line were joined at the announcement in the Manhattan Cruise Terminal by New York City Economic Development Corporation President Seth W. Pinsky and NYC & Co CEO George Fertitta.

Err, to be more accurate, The Cruise Web won 534th place in the Team Relay at last weekend’s Baltimore Running Festival – but we’re no less proud.
Karolina kicked things off with a gutsy run through Baltimore’s challenging Druid Hills. She then handed off to Seth who wound his way back through the city to the halfway point. Desiree took over from there and turned in another fantastic split to set up the relay’s final leg. Yossi had the anchor leg and did an excellent job finishing strong and doing the company proud! -

Now presenting river cruises from The Cruise Web! River cruising is an increasingly popular vacation option for travelers who enjoy the convenience and comfort of cruising, but wish to travel to locations inaccessible by a larger cruise ship. These specially designed river ships and cruise barges – usually built to carry fewer than 200 passengers – take guests through the heartland of a nation for an unparalleled travel experience.
While some river ships lack a few of the onboard features and amenities found on larger oceangoing vessels, they make up for it with port-intensive, one-of-a-kind itineraries. Plus, river cruise itineraries often focus on smaller towns and villages, offering a more personal and in-depth experience within a region. It’s also not uncommon for river cruises to package shore excursions, such as guided tours, in the regular cruise fare. -
