Although I was just a young boy at the time, the most exciting and memorable sporting victory I have ever witnessed has to be the 1980 “Miracle on Ice”. This was the year that a young US men’s hockey team, made up of amateur and college players, toppled the “unbeatable” Soviet Union hockey power house at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. USA then went on to beat Finland, to claim the gold medal.
Looking back to the build-up of that 1980 game, I can remember feeling how the Soviets were something akin to unstoppable robots. They were “perfect” in their execution, “never” made mistakes, and I almost thought of them as super-human, or maybe even non-human. -

Guests sailing on select 2010 Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic Crossings will have the unique opportunity to attend lectures by ambassadors, statesmen, politicians, journalists, academics and broadcasters with a shared interest between the United States and United Kingdom, an association first referenced as a “special relationship” by Winston Churchill in 1946. The programme was developed in direct response to guests noting their interest in hearing about politics and contemporary issues while onboard.

I cannot believe it has already been 3 years since our wedding on board the Crown Princess. Looking back, I must say that it was a truly great and stress-free experience.
My wife and I knew at the onset that we did not want the big traditional wedding. Hosting such a big event and especially planning for it was not something that appealed to us. Having been in the cruise industry for a short while already, I knew how popular cruise ship weddings were. After doing some research, we agreed: there is no better way to celebrate our love than to get married in the middle of the ocean surrounded by our family and closest friends. -
