Windstar Launches New Culinary Experience with Star Grill by Steven Raichlen

Beginning in February 2020, Windstar Cruises will offer a brand new culinary experience called “Star Grill” onboard Star Breeze, Star Legend, and Star Pride. The modern restaurant is a casual outdoor dining option that will be actualized by the distinguished Steven Raichlen. The menu at Star Grill will range from seafood to brisket, all created with impeccably mastered global techniques. With an unbeatable view from the top-deck, this new restaurant will be open to guests for both lunch and dinner. Star Grill will fire up for the first time in February 2020 aboard Star Breeze, followed by Star Legend in July 2020, and Star Pride in November 2020.


On a smaller ship, dining becomes more intimate and customizable, which is why Windstar aimed to craft dishes that are unparalleled in the restaurant industry. Add that to Raichlen’s dedication to the exploration of global grilling and a true culinary star is born. Author, journalist, and international TV host, Steven Raichlen has dedicated his life to sharing the hard earned secrets of barbecuing. In 2015, he was inducted into the Barbecue Hall of Fame and has always strived to share the knowledge that got him there. He has published 31 books, including bestsellers such as Planet Barbecue and Project Smoke. In addition to winning 5 James Beard Awards and 3 IACP-Julia Child Awards, his books have been translated into 17 languages. Best explained by Raichlen himself, “I’ve spent my life traveling the world’s barbecue trail to bring my readers and viewers the ultimate in global grilling. What better way to share my discoveries than on a Windstar cruise ship bound for new adventures.”
Star Grill will offer beef, lamb, seafood, and more from the grill, smoker, and rotisserie. In addition, Steven Raichlen has created craft sauces and side dishes to complete the stunning meals. As guests experience and learn of new cultures during their travels, they will simultaneously experience the world of flavor that Raichlen has spent his life cultivating.

On top of the restaurant partnership, Windstar will be launching culinary-themed cruises centered around enrichment in the world of the delectable. Once a year on these culinary cruises, Steven Raichlen will join guests at sea to present lectures and demonstrations. On these small ships of fewer than 350 guests, it will be unusually easy to pick the brain of the man who reinvented modern barbecue.
