Royal Caribbean to Add Exciting New Features to its Private Island

Royal Caribbean’s private island, CocoCay, is getting some exciting new features in fall 2018! Royal Caribbean will be investing $200 million to create “Perfect Day at CocoCay”, bringing brand new activities and thrills.
Some of the exciting new attractions include:
Thrill Waterpark: This 13-slide waterpark offers thrilling slides for adrenaline seeking cruisers and family-friendly attractions. One of the slides, the 135-foot-tall Daredevil’s Peak, will be the tallest waterslide in North America when it debuts. For those not seeking thrills, there will be plenty of slides for the entire family.
Up Up and Away: You’ll have the view of a lifetime on this tethered helium balloon when it takes you 400 feet above CocoCay.
Coco Beach Club: This exclusive beach club takes the perfect beach day to another level offering an oceanfront infinity pool, upgraded dining, and the only overwater cabanas in the Bahamas.
Splashaway Bay: This complimentary attraction will be perfect for the entire family! It includes five waterslides, two huge drench buckets, and more!
Captain Jacks: This new restaurant will be the perfect place to grab a bite to eat after all the excitement has worked up an appetite. Enjoy live music, delicious chicken wings and crispy steak fries, and then relax in a rope swing seat with a drink from the rowboat bar.
Oasis Lagoon: The Oasis Lagoon will feature the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean, complete with a family-friendly sloping entry, swim-up bar, and plenty of coves and islands for lounging.

The new attractions and experiences of Perfect Day at CocoCay are scheduled debut in phases beginning in September 2018 with the new CocoCay pier that will lead guests directly from the ship to the island. The second phase will be Chill Island and Oasis Lagoon in November 2018, with the third phase being Thrill Waterpark and South Beach debuting in April 2019. The final phase, the official Perfect Day at CocoCay Grand Opening (which will include the CocoBeach Club and Overwater Cabanas), is scheduled for November 2019. Of course, those dates are subject to change.

  1. Will there be a docking facility for Royal Carribean mega ships (Anthem of the Seas) so as to do away with tendering to the island?

  2. Hi Frank,
I know that Royal Caribbean is developing a pier that way all ships will be able to dock rather than using tender boats! It should be open around September 2018! Give me a call or send me an email and together we will plan your next Royal Caribbean cruise that visits CocoCay!

  3. Will the island be more handicapped accessible with a power wheelchair, the last time I was there, there was to much sand and I could not bring a handicapped passenger over to the osland

  4. Annette,
The new pier will accommodate 2 large Royal Caribbean Ships at once with vastly improved walkways and ramps and thus will be much more handicap accessible. I left you a voicemail – let’s discuss your plans!
