Princess Cays, Bahamas Cruise Port
The breathtaking Caribbean island of Eleuthera is home to the Princess Cruises-owned port of Princess Cays, Bahamas. This resort can be found at the island's southern end, about 50 miles from Nassau. The exclusive port-of-call is perfect for those looking for a party every day, and the unspoiled, sandy white beaches add to the festive atmosphere. Although the area is designed to enhance the tourist experience, great care is taken to make sure that the wildlife is undisturbed. Surrounded by coral reefs and mangrove trees, the warm weather year-round means a perfect day at the beach. There are plenty of amenities for those who want to just lounge or for the sports-minded vacationer. If you want to enjoy the scenery but get some shade, cabanas are available to rent. Whatever the type of enjoyment you seek, here are some of our favorite experiences when cruising to Princess Cays, Bahamas:
Snorkeling in the clear, calm waters is a favorite activity, thanks to the coral reefs, sponges, and tropical fish. You can rent equipment (and pre-reserve it, in fact) or take a boat tour out further. The latter is for more experienced snorkelers, as there won't be an instructor on board. Keep an eye out for rays and turtles as well.
There are plenty of other types of equipment available for rent for the recreation-minded. Kayaks, paddle wheelers, sea boards, and more let you play in the water, while those who want to stay on land can take a turn on the volleyball or basketball courts.
If you get bored with lounging, there's a cute shopping area to find souvenirs. Either check out the Princess' Tropical Treasures boutique or visit one of the shops run by local vendors for more variety.
To see more of the island of Eleuthera, there are guided tours available. See sights such as the ruins of an old Anglican church, and more remote sections of the island – where you can escape from the other tourists for a bit and learn how to do things like snorkel for conch and prepare them to eat.
