Located in Southern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City has had a tumultuous history going from a small fishing village to an important commercial seaport and then a territory of the French during their occupation and the capital of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Visit the Central Post Office, built in 1886 by Gustave Eiffel, the architect behind Paris’ Eiffel Tower. This building is decorated with French Colonial maps and tiled floors.
Try Ben Thanh Market or Tan Dinh Market where you can find beautiful silk and other fabrics at a bargain price.
Take a tour on the back of a scooter – there are 5 million motorbikes in use contributing to Ho Chi Minh’s rapid pace. Along the way you’ll get a great overview of all the city’s hotspots for nightlife.
Peek into the past at the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum where you’ll see art from several eras. As a bonus, the museum is in an old colonial mansion and a piece of art in its own right.
