Havana, Cuba Cruise Port

However, it was not until 1899 that she gained her independence, went through a historic revolution under Fidel Castro, and later withdrew from political and economic dependence on the Soviet Union after the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe. Walk through the Museum of Revolution, the National Museum of Fine Arts and Havana Theatre for a better understanding of this city’s charm and splendor. • The iconic 16th century Castillo del Morro (Morro Castle) is one of the most powerful symbols of Havana with a rich history soaked in war and subsequent victory. Situated on a rocky promontory at the entrance of the bay of the city, this fortress takes its name from one of the Biblical Wise Men and places Havana on several lists of ‘must-see’ destinations.
   
• For a more relaxing day in the soft, white sands and clear aquamarine waters of Havana’s coastline, head out to Playas del Este. Extending nearly 4 miles along the north-central coastline of Cuba, this spot is ideal for swimming, water sports and simply interacting with locals while you throw your feet up in the air and sip on your favorite Cuban cocktail.
