Guayaquil is Ecuador’s largest city with more than 3 million people. In the past few years, the city has made an effort to improve its outlook by building the Malecon, a walkway along the river with shops and restaurants. With new developments popping up, there are also lots of historic spots being preserved.   • Head to the Bosque Protector Cerro Blanco, a tropical dry forest, where you can take guided or self-guided walks to explore this wonderful environment.
     
  • The Museo Municipal has a wide range of Incan and pre-Incan artifacts on display. Here you can learn about the tribal history of this land and several of the Incan customs.
     
  • Go fishing at Salinas beach. You could also swim, surf or do any number of water sports at this spot which is very popular with the locals.
     
  • Get a greater understanding of Ecuador’s past when you visit Parque Historico. This park has old buildings and even a farm house. There are also a zoo and a garden where tropical fruits grow.
