    In Barcelona I've stayed at the Hotel Gravina (http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/hotels/hotel-gravina-barcelona.html). It's in a great location.

    I know someone that stayed at the BARCELONA CATEDRAL HOTEL.
    Based on their review, I would highly recommend this hotel. They said the staff was excellent and the hotel was centrally located so they were within walking distance to several main attractions.

    Hilton Barcelona. There are two. Either is fine.

    Taxis are plentiful in the city!

    I would not suggest driving in Spain - they're crazy over there.
    You could look into a cruise tour - depending on the cruiseline - it would include Madrid, Seville, etc.
    But, the train is the easiest way to get around Europe.

    I stayed at the NH Podium while in Barcelona. It was about a 10 minute walk to Las Ramblas and it had a wonderful roof top bar and pool. The port is around 10 miles from the city.
