Photo Highlight
Ghosts, goblins and... Blue Man?!? This month's photo highlight was submitted by John T. of The Cruise Web and features John's son, Danny, showing off his Blue Man Group costume. Kudos to Danny for his terrific costume which could easily have him mistaken for an actual member of the Blue Man Group, which performs on the Norwegian Epic. Take a few minutes to explore the rest of our re-designed Trick-or-Treat themed edition of The Current.

Trick or Treat!
Contemplating their upcoming Halloween costume plans last week, my two young boys started speculating on the line that they would be using as they knock on neighbors' doors at the end of this month -- "Trick or treat!" My younger son quickly tied the "treat" to a request for candy, and then asked his older brother what "trick" was for.
The origins of the phrase suggest that "trick or treat" is a request for candy with the threat to perform a trick against the homeowners' property. Graciously, modern culture has toned down the likely threat of decorating a neighbor's home with eggs or toilet paper, such that "trick" is simply an idle threat that is generally lost in the fun of the evening. Better still, my older son interpreted "trick" to imply that the homeowner could perform some type of magic or acrobatic trick for the visiting children, instead of... or better yet... in addition to, offering candy.
If you're lucky enough to be cruising this fall, you shouldn't have to spend the blink of an eye thinking up any tricks to perform on your hosts, as the ship will be showering you with succulent breakfast cakes, tasty lunch treats, sweet afternoon snacks, dreamy poolside ice creams, decadent dinner desserts, and chocoholic midnight buffets! Of course, if you're of the mind of my 11 year old son, and want to see magicians and acrobats in addition to your epicurean indulgences, then don't miss the evening shows. Trick and treat!

Senior Cruise Consultant
Favorite Itinerary: Alaska
Hobbies: Collecting sports cards (including 1200+ Mike Schmidt baseball cards and 1500+ Eric Lindros hockey cards)
Favorite Teams: Flyers, Phillies, Eagles & Penn St.
This month's Employee Profile is Kevin "The Ghoul" Sweigard. Kevin came to The Cruise Web 4 1/2 years ago. Kevin previously worked in a very stressful telecommunications company where he had 25 people reporting to him. Selling cruises was never something he thought about and it was actually a little scary coming to The Cruise Web without having any cruise experience.
"Even though I didn't have a travel sales background, I have succeeded here because of hard work and forming lasting relationships with my clients," said Kevin. "Treating my clients with respect goes a long way, too."
As for the cruise experience, he was quickly able to ingratiate himself into the cruise world, taking advantage of many cruising opportunities, including his favorite, an Alaskan cruise with his wife and daughter.
As for Halloween, Kevin has some fond memories of Halloweens past. "Growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, we had a lot of fun running around with friends, wreaking havoc." Kevin explains, "We would soap car windows and toilet paper trees of fellow classmates, guaranteeing they would have a busy November 1st."
Fortunately for Kevin's current neighborhood, his Halloween plans are much less mischievous. "This year I'll sit out on the front porch and hand out candy."
