Manager's Insight
Water Sports!
This month is all about water sports. A lot of people think you can't do adventurous things when cruising, but that just isn't true. Cruises are the perfect place to experience a variety of water sports, and here are a few of the great things you can do in the water, while on a cruise vacation.
First and foremost, there are dozens of great ports for world-class scuba diving and snorkeling. One can book dives with the shore excursion desk onboard, or if you have something specific in mind, you can book dives with an independent operator in port.
The ocean isn't the only place to have an awesome time in the water. Many of the Caribbean islands have beautiful waterways for tubing adventures. In Belize, for example, you can go cave tubing! What could be cooler than a nice river float right through a mountain?
You can enjoy the water during your at-sea days too! Ships offer pools, waterslides, water shows, pool games, and some ships even feature surfing tanks!
So if you think cruises are just for lying on the beach, you might be missing out on all the awesome adventures to be had in the water!

This month we're profiling our Senior Marketing Coordinator, Caroline Thomas. Growing up in Annapolis, MD, Caroline has literally spent a lifetime jumping into and climbing out of the water. On any given weekend, you can find Caroline on the water, either boating, jet skiing (although she refuses to let her boyfriend drive) or water skiing, just to name a few. "It's great to live so close to the water, where I have so many options for water sports. People often ask me why I even need to leave for vacation."
Well, working for a cruise company makes it very easy to take exotic vacations, no matter where you live. "I love vacations," says Caroline. "This job is great because I also love learning about destinations and getting ideas of places I might go next. It seems like my bucket list grows everyday!" Caroline has been a tremendous asset to The Cruise Web's growing marketing department. With a Marketing degree from Marymount University in Arlington, VA, she's been critical to the development of The Cruise Web's website, the Current Newsletter, and the Cruise Deals promotional emails. "The exciting thing about marketing and my role here is the ever-changing technology. It's both fun and challenging to try and stay in front of the curve."
Given this month's "Water Sports" theme, who better to talk to than our resident water sports expert? "Paddleboarding is definitely my favorite water sport. The best place to go is in St. Barts, in the Caribbean. The paddleboard offers you a different view of the island. If you go by the airport runway near St. Jean Beach you can see the planes flying right over your head. Plus it's a great workout!"

On Your Next Cruise
By Jacques Botty, Senior Cruise Consultant
Ever since I was a young child, I grew up fascinated by both water and world travel, this is why I chose to work at The Cruise Web.
It all started when I took my first leap in a pool. I was 4 years old and at a pool party. There were a ton of other children, the sun was blazing hot and the water perfectly cool; the kids were swimming and they looked like they were having so much fun. So I thought, "hey, why not just jump in without telling my parents!" Well, I jumped into the deep end...
