Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark, which is known for its happy
society where charity is a true value. The small nation is known for
its generosity not only to its people, but also to the people of other
nations. Many of the nation’s values can be seen in the morals of the
stories written by famed children’s author Hans Christian Anderson. You
can visit the author’s birthplace in neighboring Odense, Denmark, but a
favorite destination for Copenhagen’s visitors is the statue of The
Little Mermaid, one of Anderson’s most famous characters, which sits
along the coast line near the cruise ship terminal. Copenhagen boasts
another childhood favorite, the Tivoli Gardens, which is one of the
world’s first amusement parks. Built in 1843, it was Walt Disney’s
inspiration for Disney Land in California.
But a cruise from Copenhagen has much more to offer, from museums,
shops and some of the best restaurants in the world. For example, Noma,
a Danish restaurant, was ranked the best in the world from 2010 to 2012
by Restaurant Magazine. When traveling in the city, be sure to try a
fresh-baked Danish, the pastry named after the country.
