Norwegian Cruise Line Accessibility

Freestyle for one, and one for all. Maintaining the Freestyle way of life means offering a superb accessibility policy for cruisers of all types. Take a quick look at how Norwegian is focusing on making sure each and every vacation is accessible:

  • There are up to 27 staterooms per ship that are wheelchair accessible. Grab bars, raised beds, extra-wide doors and much more—all making sure your cruise experience is as smooth as the rest of Norwegian’s passengers
  • Service animals permitted
  • Braille indicators in elevators and staterooms, and closed-captioning TV
  • Special room features for hearing-impaired (or TDD kits)
  • Accessible restrooms in public areas
  • Dedicated wheelchair positions, or arrangements for such positions

Children with Special Needs
Norwegian Cruise Line goes above and beyond to ensure that families and children with special needs (autistic included) have an incredible cruise vacation, including arranging a private safety drill onboard, accommodating special dietary/medical needs and assessing children's needs to place them in the appropriate Children's Program. Also, for children upset by crowds, loud noises or standing for a long time, they will provide the phone number of the Port Operator (manager or supervisor) as a point of contact. This person will meet the family upon arrival at the pier and escort guests through to the check-in area, facilitating and getting them onboard quicker.

Dedicated Access Coordinators at 866-584-9756
Norwegian Cruise Lines has a dedicated toll free number, 866-584-9756, to speak with Access Coordinators for guests needing special accommodations. Guests can also reach the Norwegian Access Desk via email at accessdesk@ncl.com. Advanced notice of 45 days is preferred for all special requirements.

Mobility Accommodations
Norwegian Cruise Line suggests guests provide their own wheelchair or arrange rental through Scootaround (exclusive vendor). Shore excursions may not be accessible due to regulations at port, however Norwegian strives to work with companies who provide accessible excursions.

Hearing Impairment
Norwegian Cruise Line offers tactical alert systems, assistive listening devices and sign language interpreting for those guests who are non-verbal. 90 days' notice is required for all guests in need of interpretation.

Vision Impairment
Norwegian Cruise Line extends personal services for the visually impaired beginning with a tour of the ship for familiarization, braille signs and allowance of service dogs onboard.

Service Dogs
Task-specific service dogs are welcome on all Norwegian Cruise Line ships. Guests are required to book at least two weeks in advance if bringing a service dog and are responsible for all requirements for the animal. "Emotional Support" dogs are NOT PERMITTED aboard Norwegian Cruise Line.

Norwegian Cruise Line values the special needs community and wants to ensure their satisfaction on each vacation, so all ADA regulations are constantly being met.
