Royal Caribbean International will be implementing an enhanced ‘Child Water Safety Program’ fleetwide between now and June 15, 2017, beginning with Oasis of the Seas.
Right from embarkation, parents and kids will receive a 5-minute water safety presentation during the Adventure Ocean open house session. Youth staff and cruise directors will go over all water safety rules at the Evacuation Plan safety drill on the first evening, Teens 411 info session, daily messaging and Kids Compass. Most importantly, licensed lifeguards clearly marked in a red and white uniform will be stationed at every pool, including the Solarium pools.
Complimentary swim vests will be available in three different sizes for children between the ages of 4 and 12, together with instructions on how to properly fit the life vests. Multiple towel stations will also be accessible for convenience. Plus, in order to transcend language barriers, Royal Caribbean is re-vamping pool rules signage, stateroom signage and digital signage to provide visual cues to guests from different nationalities.
Please note: Adult supervision is required at all times for children under 12, and lifeguards will not provide babysitting services at any point in time.

A truly iconic cruise terminal meant to serve as a home port to Royal Caribbean International ships like the Oasis of the Seas is currently in the early stages of design and development for the port of Miami. This dramatic statement piece will be a symbol of commitment to Miami by boosting huge economic benefits estimated to impact the economy by $500 million and generate about 4,000 jobs.
The creative thinking and cutting-edge design of this 170,000 square foot terminal will be a striking impression to all passengers of Royal Caribbean departing and disembarking from PortMiami. The design will reflect different views from different angles, evoking a dynamic façade at every turn. When viewed from the eastern or western side, the ‘M’ of Miami will become apparent, and an illusion of waves rising or ships sailing will seem evident from the terminal side. The port of Miami is a befitting choice to establish Royal Caribbean’s largest cruise port in the world, seeing that the city was the groundbreaking port for the company when it started almost 50 years ago.
Check out highlights of the fascinating architectural design of this world-class cruise terminal and get ready for your next cruise getaway with Royal Caribbean to/from the port of Miami in 2018.

I recently had the privilege to sail aboard the Quantum of the Seas’ pre-inaugural voyage along with Royal Caribbean’s most loyal passengers, executives, travel industry professionals and the media. It was a joy to witness the christening ceremony of the Quantum of the Seas by her Godmother, Kristin Chenoweth. After a live performance exclusively for us, Ms. Chenoweth began the traditional ceremony with a blessing for the ship, her passengers and crew. She put the smart ship’s improved internet service to the test and with a simple touch of the tablet released the elegantly suspended champagne bottle to smash precisely over the vessel’s name.

On September 18, 2014, Royal Caribbean International celebrated an important event as the first steel was cut for their third Quantum class ship! The new Ovation of the Seas is due to be delivered to cruisers in the fall of 2016. The steel cutting ceremony was held at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. This is the very same shipyard where the Ovation of the Seas’ sister ships, the Quantum of the Seas and the Anthem of the Seas were built.
The record breaking Quantum class ships will feature never before seen features such as robotic bartenders, iFly’s RipCord skydiving simulator and the unique Two70 entertainment venue with dancing Roboscreens. Not the least of these new features is the North Star – which brings guests more than 300 feet above the ocean – and the Sea-Plex, an indoor sports area with bumper cars, roller skating and more. Of course, in true Royal Caribbean style, the largest and most advanced staterooms at sea will also be featured, most notably the first-ever Virtual Balcony staterooms which offer real-time views of the ocean from within interior staterooms!
