Princess Cruises is elevating the guest experience onboard with the introduction of a new level of cruise personalization with a first-of-its-kind interactive technology platform within the One Cruise Experience Access Network (O.C.E.A.N.). This device, worn as a pendant on a wristband or placed in a pocket, has no discernible technology, no menu to navigate, no on-and-off switch and no charging. Yet, it promises to be a perfect enhancement to guest experiences in unprecedented ways. Join us in welcoming the Ocean Medallion Class!
As the first Carnival Corporation brand to feature the Ocean Medallion Class, Princess Cruises has raised the bar to unbelievable heights in the cruise industry – and this may very well be the missing piece vacationers have been yearning for. Imagine spending time doing what you actually love to do on a cruise, instead of learning to love what has already been curated. This is what Princess Cruises hopes to achieve with its latest technology.

Love, exciting and new. Come aboard, we’re expecting you!
Love, life’s sweetest reward. Let it flow, it floats back to you! — Come on, you know the words!
The “Love Boat” was back and truly better than ever aboard the newly-christened Regal Princess in Fort Lauderdale. Recently, I had the privilege of attending the Regal Princess Inauguration and 2014 Executive Sales Forum. The two-day event featured the cast of the hit 1970s and 80s TV show The Love Boat, who are Godparents of this impressive 3,600 passenger vessel. The inauguration coincided with the 50th anniversary of Princess Cruises.
Princess Cruises and The Love Boat go way back. The story began in the mid-1970s when producer Douglas S. Cramer decided to take his already popular television series, Love American Style, to a life at sea. Princess Cruises loved the idea and the rest is history. Since then, Princess Cruises has been synonymous with The Love Boat.
The naming ceremony onboard was star studded and as elaborate as the ship itself. The celebration kicked off with Jack Jones singing the Love Boat theme song while the opening credits ran on the 300 square foot, 69,000 watt pool-side movie theater. TV star Florence Henderson was wonderful as Master of Ceremonies. Love Boat regular, Charo, had the ship dancing with her meringue-style guitar performance. But perhaps the highlights of the evening were the clips of old interviews with Princess founder, Stanley McDonald, reflecting on the inception of the cruise line and its relationship with The Love Boat. That was followed with a taped message from Mr. McDonald acknowledging the ceremony, while his family was seated overlooking the pool-side celebration. The ceremony wrapped with the official champagne bottle breaking with the cast (and the real captain) and a port-side fireworks display.

Princess Cruises is planning on bringing in the new year with another first for the industry when they unveil their float in Pasadena, California’s world-famous Rose Parade on January 1st. If that wasn’t exciting enough, the float will carry six cast members of the popular television show The Love Boat!
Not only will this pay homage to the television show that help make Princess Cruises a household name, the float will represent the newest ship in the fleet, the Regal Princess, as it travels through some of the world’s most intriguing destinations.
As Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises says, “Since the theme of this year’s Rose Parade is ‘Inspiring Stories,’ we can think of no more perfect opportunity to launch our 50th anniversary year celebrations. For the last five decades of our guests sailing with us to amazing places, they’ve returned with inspiring memories that have lasted a lifetime, and we want to celebrate this on the very first day of 2015.” [Read more →]

Princess Cruises has brewed up a new way to celebrate their upcoming 50th anniversary – with their own craft beer! “Seawitch”, as it is known, owes its moniker to the company’s logo. This tasty and unique brew, which is set to debut aboard the Regal Princess this November, was created in partnership with Strike Brewing Company, and marks the first of several unique beers to come.
“The Seawitch West Coast IPA not only commemorates our milestone anniversary, but is also meant to inspire our guests to celebrate their sea journeys with Princess.” said Jonathan Wilson, Princess Cruises vice president of food and beverage services.
The Seawitch West Coast IPA will be available for cruisers aboard the Regal Princess this year, and will be available fleet-wide by early 2015. Princess Cruises will commence celebrating their 50th anniversary year with the naming ceremony of Regal Princess on November 5 in Ft. Lauderdale.

Wow, 2013 was a big year for new cruise ships. There was the debut of Norwegian’s Breakaway in New York City. HRH the Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) christened the Royal Princess – Princess’ first new ship in almost a decade – and Viking River Cruises broke a Guinness record by christening 10 ships. Those were only the highlights, but 2014 looks like it might be just as exciting as 2013.
The first ship to make its debut will be the Norwegian Getaway. This is the sister ship to the Norwegian Breakaway, and while she will be similar to her sister in size and shape, the Getaway will have a personality all her own. For starters, the Getaway will be based out of Miami and will feature some of this beach city’s key aspects. She’ll have a lot of Latin flavor at the Flamingo Bar & Grill and the Sugarcane Mojito Bar, and music is all over this ship with the GRAMMY experience, where you’ll see live performances and memorabilia from your favorite rock stars. The ship will feature the first production of the musical Legally Blonde at sea, and it will also have an incredible magic show at the Illusionarium with its domed video screen. [Read more →]
