April Showers Bring Cruise Now-ers

By: The Cruise Web, Inc.

April has been a busy month for The Cruise Web employees, both inside and outside the office, as a large amount of staff went off on their own vacations – or, as we at The Cruise Web like to call it, freshening up on our cruise skills. Here is a glimpse into some of the April vacations taken by members of The Cruise Web family:

Jaime F.
My husband and I went on a 7-day Western Caribbean cruise aboard Holland America Lines newest ship, Nieuw Amsterdam. We sailed out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and made stops in Half Moon Cay, Bahamas; Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; Georgetown, Cayman Islands; and Costa Maya, Mexico. We really enjoyed the beach at Half Moon Cay and were able to experience the private hospitality cabana because the group with
Jason and Jamiewhich we sailed had reserved it for the day. While in the different ports we were able to take part in various activities such as the FlowRider in Grand Turk, golfing at Jack Nicklaus’ Brittania Golf Club in Georgetown and walking around the markets in Costa Maya. My favorite onboard dining venue was Tamarind, the sushi was fresh, the teas was very tasty, and my main course – Vegetable Saba Noodles – was just delicious. [Read more →]

Green Cruising

By Ken Cho, Cruise Consultant, The Cruise Web.

Green RecyclingAs a consumer and inhabitant of this planet, I’m always interested in the conservation movement and alternative/renewable sources of energy. That includes when I go on vacation and travel abroad. Practices in countries like Japan where conservation and “green” methods/products are part of everyday life have always impressed me. Ever since I began my career as a cruise consultant with The Cruise Web, I’ve wanted to know what the cruise lines do to help foster such practices. [Read more →]

Green is Great!

By The Cruise Web, Inc.

Andy with a green monster beer in front of the green monster!Appropriately I am writing about green on St Patrick’s Day and everyone around me is sporting their finest green ware.  When they asked me to write about the color green, I am not sure they knew it was my favorite color, but, really, what’s not to love?  Green is the color of spring, of the Super Bowl champions, the Green Bay Packers, and of the wonderful band Green Day.  It is the name of one of the best REM albums.  Green is the color jacket for which every golfer aspires.   A green flag starts car races, even my 2 year old son knows that green means Go!  Green is renewable and fresh.  And, of course, it is the color of money.  Who doesn’t want more green! Cruise Web Director Attends Oceania Marina Inaugural Celebration

By: The Cruise Web, Inc.

The Cruise Web’s Director of Finance and Human Resources, Don Dean, recently returned from an inaugural celebration aboard Oceania’s newest ship, Marina. The inaugural cruise departed on February 5th out of Miami and, well, why don’t we just let Don tell you himself…

NBA028“My wife and I had the privilege of being a part of Marina’s gala inauguration and preview cruise. Marina, the newest addition to Oceania’s fleet, is simply gorgeous. The wonderful woods, the marvelous marbles, and the awesome artwork along with the stunning grand staircase used to decorate Marina almost lull you into thinking that you are at a five star resort. However, the fantastic view from the staterooms’ private verandas and the comfortable 12th deck pool area with the ocean breezes remind that you are truly on a cruise ship. [Read more →]

Wildlife Sightings

A compilation from The Cruise Web employees.

Many of our employees have been fortunate enough to experience the beauty of wildlife in its natural habitat, whether from a ship, underwater, or on good ol’ dry land. From any vantage point, it’s truly incredible (if sometimes scary) to witness animals in the wild.

Arthur B.
While on our cruise expedition to Central America on Silversea’s Prince Albert II we had many wildlife encounters. It was exciting to see a pod of playful dolphins outside our window or a couple of whales breaching less than 100 Blue Footed Boobiesyards away. On land, we stumbled upon a sleeping python and very friendly capuchin monkeys. However, my favorite was at a stop on Isla de Plata off the coast of Ecuador known as Little Galapagos. We walked among colonies of blue-footed boobies and frigate birds – beautiful creatures and absolutely not afraid of humans. [Read more →]

Sailing Goodbye to 2010

A compilation from The Cruise Web employees.

Does the Holiday Season stress you out and leave you feeling beyond exhausted when it’s all over? Well, a few lucky Cruise Web employees were able to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and set sail on a cruise vacation. While the rest of the office was tired and cold from the holiday, these employees came back relaxed and well-rested. They were able to share the joys of traveling during the holiday season. I wouldn’t be surprised if next year a few more employees escape during the holidays for some rest and relaxation!

Brandon B.
SunsetI came home from my cruise on Regent’s Seven Seas Voyager feeling one thing, relaxed! The seven-night itinerary took me to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, areas rich in their Mayan roots.  I did manage some site-seeing, but spent a majority of this cruise enjoying Regent’s luxurious, all-inclusvie atmosphere.  If you need a quick getaway to recharge your batteries, this is the cruise for you!

Rashell O.
Cruising is always a great way to travel, especially over the holidays. This Thanksgiving I decided to throw out my apron and my shopping list and instead sail away on a relaxing cruise with my good friend. What a wonderful trip – four ports, great food, championship gambling and free movies! What more could I ask for? [Read more →]

“Bright Beginnings” to the Holiday Season

By: The Cruise Web, Inc.

While the holidays are a good time to count our blessings and reflect on the past year, it’s important to remember those that may not have been so fortunate. Keeping that in mind this Bright Beginnings- Donationsholiday season, The Cruise Web decided to reach out to Bright Beginnings, a local child development center in Washington, DC, and offer a little holiday spirit.  After establishing a company goal for donations, it was exciting to watch our company pull together for a better cause. Altogether, our employee donations, which were matched by The Cruise Web, exceeded our original goal! We used the donations to buy clothing, toys, shoes, diapers, and other much-needed items for Bright Beginnings, their children and families. [Read more →]
