Spotlight on RCCL Specials

We had a couple of Royal Caribbean promotions that caught our eye but we had to choose one to write about. The one we’re not going to delve into is the $200 onboard credit offer that is good through April 30th. This mostly caught our eye because it applies to Australian cruises, and Australia is one of those exotic destinations those of us from the US don’t get to visit often. So, if you’re interested in more information, the best thing to do is give us a call. Sorry for the teaser.

What we do want to write about is Royal Caribbean’s partnering with Universal Studios in Orlando for a dual land/sea vacation package they’re dubbing “Way more than Cruise”! In essence what you’re getting is 3 or 4 nights on land ( in 1 of 6 hotels) to enjoy Unversal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando, FL as well as a cruise to either the Bahamas (3 or 4 nights) or the Caribbean (7 nights to either the Eastern or Western). The package is structured like a CruiseTour so you can do the land bit before or after you cruise, and all of your transfers, and hotel accomidations are taken care of, as well as Admission tickets to the parks.

What caught our eye about this deal is that pricing for a family of FOUR starts at about $1800 – that’s $450 per person (in a family of four) to enjoy a cruise, and a hotel stay, AND admission to the parks! All of which combined makes for quite an economical family vacation without sacraficing on things to do. We think this is pretty in line with Royal Caribbean’s overall goal of making sure everyone has a chance to do something they enjoy, as well, since both the ships and the theme parks are geared towards a variety of ages and interests. A little something for everyone – as they say vacations are something you should get to do with your kids, not just for your kids.

The hotels you can choose from are three of the themed hotels on site at Orlando Resorts and three nearby Univeral partner hotels (Doubletree, Four Points and Hyatt Place). A benefit of staying on site is that you get a free pass to skip the lines at the theme parks and other little additions, of course the on-site hotels will increase the cost of your package but it might be worth it to skip the lines, and get free water transportation between the park and the hotel as well as priority seating at certain restaurants, etc – all of which ensures you have to wait less time to enjoy your trip. Royal Caribbean also allows you to choose your accomidations for the hotel and the cruise separately instead of pre-assigning them based on the package type, so there is flexibility built in for your budget and your interests. In the end, there are ton of choices involved that you can make – from your cruise itenerary, to your cabin type, to your hotel location, and room type – to ensure everyone has a great time while providing flexibility to work with your needs and desires.
