We are proud to announce that The Cruise Web’s office space was recently the center of attention for garnering three awards for its architects and builders.

The first award went to Davis Carter Scott, the architecture firm responsible for the interior design of The Cruise Web’s office. Davis Carter Scott received the Award of Excellence – Best Interior Tenant Space (10,001 – 25,000 square feet) from the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, MD/DC Chapter. This month The Cruise Web began a partnership with The Travel Channel. Our company will be creating content for their web site, travelchannel.com.

The first posting details the experience of a river cruise to Myanmar. Myanmar is a Southeast Asian nation that is known for its temples and beautiful landscapes. The country is now being rediscovered thanks to easements on travel restrictions. Viking River Cruises will be offering a selection of cruises on the Irrawaddy River starting in January.

“We are very excited and proud to be working with The Travel Channel,” Karolina Shenton, Manager of Marketing and Sales Operations said. “We hope to create many interesting and useful articles for them in the future.”

Congratulations go out to The Cruise Web’s Operations Analyst, Sammie Kroll, for getting engaged over the holidays! Her  fiancé Tommy popped the question on December 30, just in time for them to bring in the New Year together.

It seemed that everyone except Sammie knew about the surprise as she and Tommy went on a snowy ATV ride up the mountains in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, which is a normal activity for this outdoorsy couple.  Tommy was smart enough to get the whole family involved. To document the occasion, Sammie’s brother and cousin hid in the trees to take photographs and the rest of the family was awaiting their return with a bottle of champagne at the house.

Sammie’s father made a great toast and the family celebrated, mainly by saying “it’s about time!” The couple has been together for over four years now and they plan to set the date for the big day in spring 2014. The Cruise Web congratulates Sammie and Tommy as they begin this new and exciting chapter in their lives!

Aside from gathering with family and friends, sharing meals and exchanging gifts, the holidays are also a special time to give back. This year, we at The Cruise Web decided to raise funds and help out some local families that seek services from the College Park Youth & Family Services (CPYFS).

CPYFS is an organization that provides many counseling services to the children who live in College Park, MD, which is just right down the road from The Cruise Web’s headquarters in Calverton, MD. At CPYFS, children up to age 18 are able to receive individual counseling as well as family counseling. Parents can also participate in support groups with their children and children can interact with other children through play therapy. [Read more →]
