Carnival Magic Successfully Completes Sea Trials in Adriatic Sea

The 130,000-ton Carnival Magic, Carnival Cruise Lines’ newest ship, recently completed its sea trials in the Adriatic Sea in preparation for its May 1 debut from Europe.

Photo Courtesy Carnival Cruise LinesCurrently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, the 3,690-passenger vessel had a full contingent of officers, technicians and engineers on board who thoroughly tested the Carnival Magic’s sophisticated navigation and mechanical systems.

Following sea trials, Carnival Magic> returned to Monfalcone, where it is undergoing final interior outfitting prior to its delivery late next month. [Read more →]

Carnival’s Newest Ship “Floated Out” at Fincantieri Shipyard

Carnival Magic being "floated out"With less than seven months until its maiden voyage, the new Carnival Magic reached another construction milestone when it was “floated out” earlier this week from her outfitting quay at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy.

The initial stages of a cruise ship’s construction take place in a dry dock facility. Once exterior outfitting is completed, the dry dock is flooded with water and the ship is “floated out” and moved to a wet dock facility where construction continues. [Read more →]

Carnival’s Cruise Ship Exhibit Sets Sail At Miami Children’s Museum

In a nod to maritime tradition, Miami Children’s Museum and Carnival Cruise Lines recently uncorked a confetti-filled bottle to launch a redesigned cruise ship–shaped exhibit where kids can sail on a sea of discovery and learn the secrets behind one of South Florida’s leading industries.

The two-level 1,850-square-foot exhibit – the country’s only cruise-themed children’s museum attraction – has been completely renovated and now offers a host of new hands-on, interactive activities that promise oceans of fun while educating kids about seagoing travel and maritime careers.

Carnival ShipNew features on the exhibit’s first level include Puppet Ship Theater, where kids can learn about different maritime careers while putting on a puppet show with a cast of miniature captains, engineers, chefs and other shipboard personnel.  Young visitors also have their moment in the spotlight dressing up and performing as Carnival entertainers with dazzling, sequin-festooned costumes. Elvis’ 75th Birthday To Be Celebrated Aboard Carnival Fascination

Elvis Presley Enterprises, Sixthman and Carnival Cruise Lines have announced The Elvis Cruise celebrating The King’s 75th birthday. The voyage will depart November 4, 2010 on Carnival’s Carnival Fascination from Jacksonville, Fla.

Guests will also enjoy performances by some of the best Elvis tribute artists including the winners of the last three Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contests: Shawn Klush, Brandon Bennett and Bill Cherry.

There will also be a special screening of a new Elvis documentary called “Homecoming: Tupelo Welcomes Elvis Home,” along with clips never before seen by the public.
