Norwegian Reveals Godfather for Norwegian Escape
Norwegian Cruise Line recently revealed that the Godfather for their newest ship, Norwegian Escape, will be none other than Armando Christian Perez, aka Pitbull. Plus, Pitbull will not only serve as Godfather for the Norwegian Escape, he will also be the headline performer at the ship’s November christening ceremony in Miami.
Maritime tradition places great honor and significance on the naming of a Godparent for any new ship, and Norwegian Cruise Line is eager to continue this custom with the Norwegian Escape. Of course, in line with Norwegian’s typical “Freestyle” fashion, the cruise line is breaking free from the norm by choosing a Godfather for a position typically held by women serving as ship Godmothers. This selection is perfect for Norwegian’s “non-traditional cruising that focuses on freedom and flexibility for guests.”
“A Miami native, [Pitbull] epitomizes and contributes to the energy, excitement and local flavor that our ships so proudly embody and we’re excited to build upon our relationship and have him serve in this special roles as Godfather to Norwegian Escape,” said Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line’s president.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s relationship with Pitbull dates back to his performance at the Norwegian Getaway’s christening ceremony in February 2014. The line also features Pitbull’s signature brand of vodka, Voli, at bars and restaurants throughout their fleet.
