Princess Cruises to Celebrate 50th Anniversary with First-Ever Float in The Rose Parade
Princess Cruises is planning on bringing in the new year with another first for the industry when they unveil their float in Pasadena, California’s world-famous Rose Parade on January 1st. If that wasn’t exciting enough, the float will carry six cast members of the popular television show The Love Boat!
Not only will this pay homage to the television show that help make Princess Cruises a household name, the float will represent the newest ship in the fleet, the Regal Princess, as it travels through some of the world’s most intriguing destinations.
As Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises says, “Since the theme of this year’s Rose Parade is ‘Inspiring Stories,’ we can think of no more perfect opportunity to launch our 50th anniversary year celebrations. For the last five decades of our guests sailing with us to amazing places, they’ve returned with inspiring memories that have lasted a lifetime, and we want to celebrate this on the very first day of 2015.”
The Love Boat cast members attending the event will include, Gavin MacLeod (Captain Stubing), Fred Grandy (Chief Purser Gopher), Ted Lange (Bartender Isaac), Bernie Kopell (Doc), Lauren Tewes (Cruise Director Julie) and Jill Whelan (Captain’s daughter Vicki). Each of these pop culture icons will be present to send the message of Princess Cruises’ commitment to delivering the world in style.
The now famous Rose Parade is part of “America’s New Year Celebration®” and includes numerous floral themed floats, energetic marching bands and high-stepping equestrian units all enjoyed in perfect California weather. Keeping in the spirit of the event, the Princess Cruises float will be covered by more than 24,000 flowers and natural materials!
