Spas at Sea: A Primer on Pampering

A relaxing facial.Have you seen those new commercials for Princess Cruises? They evoke the feelings of relaxation and excitement of discovering new things about ourselves, our traveling companions and the world. At the end they say three simple words: “Come Back New.”
So how does one come back new? Well, one way you can come back new is to have a rejuvenating experience. Let us help you choose a vacation where you take time for you, so you can truly do what you want to do. One of the most popular ways of seeking out relaxation, refreshment and rejuvenation is to spend time at the ship’s spas. Nearly every cruise ship has a spa with specialty treatments to help you unwind, and perhaps learn a little something about yourself.
Here’s an interesting thing you may not know about the spas on cruise ships: the vast majority of spas are run by a company called Steiner Leisure. This is a company that oversees spa brands like Elemis, Mandara, Bliss and TimetoSpa, along with several others.

Canyon Ranch got its start in Arizona and has since grown to have locations all over America. They take a holistic approach to health focusing on nutrition and exercise, along with skin care and massage. Paul Gauguin Cruises works with Algotherm, a French company that bases all of their products and services off products found in the water. MSC Cruises, a cruiseline based in Italy, relies on OceanView Monaco, a spa company that takes traditions of Balinese treatments and mixes them with modern notions on wellness.
Each cruise line and their accompanying spa brand offer a different experience, but many of the spas within a cruise line will offer similar experiences. For instance, you’ll find the same menu of services on Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas as you will on the Allure of the Seastwo ships in the same class. However, this may not be the case for two ships from different ship classes, especially with newer vessels. Either way, one thing we love about cruising is that each cruise line crafts their own menu of services, so you can always experience something new – just contact our experts to plan the experience that’s right for you.
Here’s a look at some popular services offered:
