Fit for Cruising
By Rosalind Smith, Business Development Manager,
The Cruise Web, Inc.
Cruising and fitness go together like Fred & Ginger (or a movie and popcorn… air popped without butter of course)! There was a time when everyone worried about gaining weight on a cruise vacation. They are still using word processors and those days are long gone.
Is it possible to maintain (or in some cases start) your healthy lifestyle while cruising?
ABSOLUTELY! And just to prove it, we are hosting our very own fitness theme cruise, FIT FOR CRUISING, aboard the Liberty of the Seas. On January 26, 2012, weight gain is one thing our guests need not worry about. We will disembark four nights later with renewed skills, knowledge and motivation to keep those New Year’s resolutions on track. [Read more →]

Fitness Tips
A compilation by The Cruise Web employees.
For most people, the word “fitness” doesn’t come to mind when you think of a cruise vacation, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Follow some of our fitness tips and you might find that staying fit while cruising isn’t as difficult as you think.

I love, love, love working out on the treadmill while looking out at the ocean. It makes the time on the machine go by quickly!

Since I eat about 10 meals a day while cruising, I try to balance it by taking the stairs rather than the elevator. I also dance a lot at night in the nightclub. That makes up for all the food and drinks, right?
Caroline T.
I make it a routine to wake up early and get my work-out in first thing before the day becomes too much fun and I make up excuses why I shouldn’t work out today! [Read more →]

One Cruise Consultant Explores the Mediterranean Islands with Azamara
Last month, The Cruise Web’s very own Lynda Lynn had the privilege of participating in a Seminar at Sea on board the Azamara Journey on a 7-night “Islands of the Mediterranean” cruise. Seminars at Sea allow consultants to familiarize themselves with different cruise lines through invaluable first-hand experiences. Lynda’s cruise was no exception so let’s go straight to the source for Lynda’s take on her experience:
“I traveled round trip from Civitavecchia visiting the beautiful ports of Bonifacio, Corsica, France – Olbia, Sardinia, Italy – Trapani, Sicily, Italy – Taormina, Sicily, Italy – and Sorrento, Italy (which included a wonderful overnight stop in Sorrento).
The Journey is beautiful and elegant and from the time I stepped on board I was impressed with not only the ship but also the staff and their professionalism, warmth, genuine personalities and their ability to take care of any request efficiently. With a capacity of 695 passengers, the Journey has an intimate feel and the staff really does get to know your name. The Journey has an unpretentious elegance with beautiful and unique artwork in the public areas. I loved the small size of the ship, how I was able to easily find my new cruising friends when I was walking about the ship and how easy it was to get around on the ship. [Read more →]

Manager’s Insight – Fitness
By Rosalind Smith, Business Development Manager,
The Cruise Web, Inc.
Since this is my first time writing our Manager’s Insight, I’d like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Rosalind Smith, I’m Business Development Manager for The Cruise Web and it’s my pleasure to kick things off for our Fitness newsletter. Who would have thought? The most non-athletic woman alive has become one with somewhat athletic abilities and has been chosen to introduce our Fitness-themed newsletter and write a “Fit for Cruising” blog.
In the not so distant past, the most athletic adventures I’d ever engaged in were my power musical weekends to New York City, consisting of three Broadway shows, decadent dinners, delightful lunches and countless taxi rides within 48-hours. Then, one July 4th weekend, I suffered an “athletic injury”
in an effort to attend an outdoor performance of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. That knee injury started my journey into an active and healthy lifestyle. Cycling (specifically indoors) became my staple. After feeling and seeing the changes in my body as well as my overall heath, I slowly progressed to strength training, yoga and endurance activities – only to be sidelined by athletic injury #2, the other knee.
