St. Maarten Travel Tours
with Princess Cruises

Both the French and the Dutch claim the island of St. Maarten. The powers signed a treaty in 1648 that divided the island between them, though the two sides have distinct cultural characteristics. But it is their differences that add to the charm of this Caribbean hideaway and makes for some of the most delightful cuisine known throughout the world.

Butterfly Farm And Marigot
Board your air-conditioned motorcoach for the short drive to La Ferme des Papillons on the French side of the island. At the Butterfly Farm, you enter enmeshed tropical gardens where hundreds of the worlds most rare and exotic butterflies float freely by. During your tour, see every phase of the life cycle of these exquisite insects and learn about the magic of metamorphosis. Then head to Marigot, where you enjoy approximately one hour of free time to explore the citys charming sidewalk cafes, open-air market and duty-free shops before returning to the ship.

Caribbean Amphibious Duck Adventure

Enjoy live Calypso music and complimentary rum or fruit punch as your DUCK rolls through the older sections of Phillipsburg. See the islands Great Salt Pond and head to one of the islands highest points for panoramic views. Your guide provides lively and entertaining commentary on St. Maarten and points out sights of interest. Then, before you know it, your DUCK drives down the beach and dives into Simpson Bay for a leisurely tour by water. After returning to dry land, head for a scenic overlook offering views of the bay and your Princess ship.

The large viewing ports offer a close-up view of coral reefs and schools of tropical fish during your 45-minute narrated tour of the marine ecosystem at Creole Rock. After your cruise, enjoy a complimentary beverage on deck as you take in views of Grand Case Bay.
