The Art Of Ryukyu Bingata Tour

Ryukyu Bingata - Bingata-dyed fabric has been produced in the Ryukyu Islands since the 15th century. It is thought that the multi-coloured dyeing process was introduced from southern China. Discover the secrets of this ancient art from creating a complex pattern to alternating light and dark dyes. At the end of the class, you have produced a piece of traditional bingata as a souvenir of your visit.
Shurijo Castle - The vermilion-colored castle was the seat of power during the 500-year reign of the Ryukyu Kingdom. Destroyed in World War II and rebuilt 1992, the castle is surrounded by beautiful gates leading to the Seiden or Main Hall.
