The Forbidden City - This complex of palaces, pavilions, gardens and ceremonial courtyards was home to the imperial court of 24 Ming and Qing emperors.

After breakfast, check out from hotel and board a motorcoach for the approximately 47-mile drive to the Great Wall. After lunch return to the Beijing Airport for afternoon flight from Beijing to Xian. Transfer to your hotel after arrival in early evening.
- WHAT YOU VISIT
The Great Wall - Begun in the 3rd century B.C. to protect China's northern border from marauding nomads and 'barbarians', the Wall stretches over 4,473 miles east to west. Today, it remains a poignant reminder of the painstaking endeavours of the workers who struggled to complete it. Please wear comfortable shoes with soft rubber soles, as the walkways' worn stones are frequently slippery.
Sacred Road - The road called Shen Lu, the 'Sacred Way', leads to the tombs of 13 Ming emperors in a tranquil valley. The 4 1/2 mile road, once forbidden to all but the emperor's funeral cortege, is now a pleasant walkway lined with stone sculptures on both sides.
- LUNCH
Lunch is served at a restaurant near the Great Wall. Afterwards you may choose to browse for souvenirs and in a souvenirs store attached to the restaurant.
- DINNER ON YOUR OWN & ACCOMMODATIONS
After arrival at your hotel in Xian, the remainder of the day is yours; dinner is on your own.
Following breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to Terra Cotta Warriors Museum.
- WHAT YOU VISIT
Terra Cotta Warriors - Nothing else in China engages the imagination of travelers more than their first glimpse of the amazing excavation site of the Terra Cotta Warriors. This army of 7,000 life-size clay statues has guarded the tomb of Shih Huang Ti, the first Qin emperor, for over 2,000 years. The army was discovered in 1975 by a group of peasants who were trying to sink a well near the First Emperor's Mausoleum.
Dayan Pagoda - The Dayan (Small Wild Goose) Pagoda is considered one of the most famous pagodas in China due to its antiquity and its connection with Buddha. Built 652 A.D., it is one of the few remaining Buddhist pagodas of the Tang dynasty. The pagoda is now the home of Xian Historical Museum, where collections of historical relics are displayed.
- LUNCH
Chinese style lunch served at local restaurant near Terra Cotta Museum.
