Near Island Trail Walk

    Enjoy an in-depth botanical hike with a local guide who specializes in Kodiak's flora.

    Following a short drive, learn about the many uses of plant life on Near Island. The terrain provides the opportunity to view plants in a variety of habitats, including a forest, a wild meadow, a beach and rocky cliffs. Identify plants and learn whether they are edible, medicinal or simply beautiful. Learn how Native people have traditionally used medicinal plants for healing.

    Remember to bring your camera as there will be excellent photographic opportunities along the way.
