  • "Circle of Fire" Volcano Helicopter Experience.
    From the air you will absolutely phenomenal views of the most geologically active environment on earth - the famous Kilauea Volcano, which has been continuously erupting since 1983. The tour's emphasis is on the most current areas of volcanic activity. View lava flows and black sand beaches; see tropical rain forests and small cascading waterfalls; and learn about the history and culture of Hawaii. Tour routes and sights visited may vary according to wind and weather conditions. Volcanic activity varies hourly.
  • A Taste of Hawaii: The Total Vanilla Experience.
    Calling all food-lovers! Head off the beaten path to the Hawaiian Vanilla Company. Relax on a narrated journey to the tropical countryside of the Hamakua Coast - a spectacular showcase of the diversity of ecosystems that the Big Island has to offer. Featured on the Food Network, Travel Channel, and the Discovery Channel, the Hawaiian Vanilla Company is the venue for your Vanilla Experience Lunch - every foodie's dream meal featuring the bounty of local farms. Gourmet recipes include the vanilla grown right here at the only commercial vanilla farm in the U.S.A. The luncheon includes a presentation on how vanilla is grown, a culinary demonstration and a wonderful opportunity to meet your hosts - the Reddekopp family. During lunch watch Mrs. Reddekopp start with their homegrown vanilla beans as she prepares her vanilla topping which you will sample with your dessert. After lunch, Jim Reddekopp will take you on a brief walking tour through the facility and fields, ending with an optional shopping opportunity at the Gift Gallery before you travel back to the pier.
  • Akaka Falls & Nani-Mau Gardens.
    Discover three of Hilo's favorite attractions: the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Factory with time to visit the gift shop and snack bar; Nani Mau Gardens, where you will take a tram ride through 53 acres of world-class botanical gardens, acres of flowers; and breathtaking Akaka Falls - the longest unbroken waterfall in the state, plunging 442 feet over a volcanic cliff. Walk along the one-mile natural pathway through lush tropical forest to view the falls. After the tour, there is an optional drop-off at Hilo Hattie's for shopping.
  • Captain Zodiac Raft/Snorkel/Dophin Adventure.
    Travel from Hilo to Kona aboard an air-conditioned motor coach via the saddle road. The coach climbs the slopes of Mauna Kea Volcano for fantastic views Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa along the way to the west side of the Big Island. Continue to Kona where you will meet your captain and board a 24-foot, high-powered motorized Zodiac raft. Keep a sharp eye out for dolphins, turtles and whales (in season). During your visit to Pawai Bay, you will be able to enjoy one of Hawaii's best snorkel spots from the Zodiac. You will be given a brief orientation and then you can climb into the warm water for fantastic views of colorful tropical fish and corals. All snorkel gear, flotation vest and professional supervision included. Then, speed across the waves, exploring sea caves, lava tubes and blowholes along the rugged coastline. Enjoy a deli-style lunch en route. Return from Kona to Hilo via Waimea and the paniolo (cowboy) country of the spectacular Hamakua coastline. Pass by Parker Ranch, located in Waimea. The ranch was founded in 1847 and it is one of the oldest and most historic ranches in the United States. Encompassing thousands of acres across the island, Parker Ranch is also among the country's largest privately owned cattle ranches and is home to the Hawaiian cowboy, the paniolo. Continue along the gorgeous Hamakua coastline on the way back to Hilo.
  • Big Island Grand Fire and Falls.
    Don't just imagine soaring over Kilauea Volcano on a thrilling helicopter tour - make it a reality along with a refreshing swim under a waterfall. You'll start by boarding a comfortable, air-conditioned helicopter, taking off and heading out towards the active volcano. Lush tropical rain forests give way to stark black lava flows as you approach Kilauea. Look for surface flows and lava entering the ocean as your pilot safely navigates the helicopter over the volcanic landscape. Then, you'll circle back and head north past Hilo. Fly over prime rain forests laced with waterfalls. After your flight, you'll be met by your guide and enjoy a Hawaiian barbecue lunch as you relax in a private pavilion. In this fabulous location, overlooking a beautiful waterfall in the middle of the jungle, take a refreshing swim in a natural mountain pool fed by the falls, or just relax and watch the fun. The scenic drive back to Hilo takes you through Onomea Bay with stops at Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls.
  • Imiloa Astronomy Center & the Essence of Hilo.
    A short journey along Banyan Drive takes you past Liliuokalani Garden - an oceanside Japanese park - as you tour historic downtown Hilo. You're headed to the beautiful Rainbow Falls, surrounded by a rain forest of mango, banyan trees, and African tulips. You'll stop at Big Island Candies, a famous Hilo landmark, where you can see delicious treats being made right before your eyes. Then, the highlight of your tour will be a visit to Hawaii's newest destination - the Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawaii. This fascinating facility explores and celebrates Hawaiian navigation and culture, including the modern journeys of exploration by today's astronomers on Mauna Kea. You'll experience a Full-Dome Planetarium Show including a live sky lecture featuring the sky as viewed from Mauna Kea. The Planetarium at 'Imiloa is the first in the world to have 3D stereoscopic capabilities, revolutionizing the planetarium industry.

  • Kilauea Volcano Bicycle Adventure.
    This exciting day begins with a scenic narrated drive from the cruise ship pier to the Visitor Center at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Here you will receive a detailed orientation and safety briefing and be fitted with a 21-speed, comfort-designed mountain bike and safety equipment. Your cycling adventure is an eight-mile ride on paved roads around the crater rim. It consists of mostly level terrain with a couple of small uphill sections. If you do not wish to ride the hills, you can join the guides in the van at any time. Along with the cycling activity, you will stroll through an incredible rain forest that leads you directly through the amazing Thurston Lava Tube and witness the amazing power of the current eruption at Halema'uma'u Crater. After your ride, stop at the Jaggar Museum to watch videos of the volcano erupting. The Jaggar Museum is also home to many seismographs that monitor every twitch of the earth. Throughout the tour, your guide will share the history and geology of the area - an exciting and active way to spend the day at the volcano. After the tour, there is an optional drop-off at Hilo Hattie's for shopping (if time in port allows).
  • Mauna Kea Summit Adventure.
    This memorable journey will take you by van to the summit of Mauna Kea - the highest peak in the Pacific at 13,796 feet. The ancient Hawaiians considered Mauna Kea to be the home of Poli'ahu, the female deities of their spirituality, who brought life to all below. It was also the meeting place of heaven and earth and the burial place of High Chiefs. You will see Hilo, Rainbow Falls and the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy en route. A light lunch and a jacket are provided.
