Transfer to Skagway by ferry and experience an unforgettable journey along the eastern side of White Pass aboard the world-famous narrow gauge White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, built more than 100 years ago through some of the North's most rugged terrain. Board a comfortable,restored or replica parlor car and retrace the original route beyond the summit of White Pass at 2,865 feet through breathtaking scenery. Upon reaching Fraser, British Columbia, you will board a motor coach for the journey down the west side of the White Pass canyon as you hear about Pitchfork Falls and Tormented Valley. Then, stop at historic Liarsville, a gold rush trail camp, to view cabins and tents once used as a bakery, laundry, saloon and bordello. Try your hand at gold panning--you're guaranteed to find some. Enjoy a snack of hot cider and cookies, and have your photo taken with a husky, or do some shopping before returning to Haines by ferry.

Ride in a comfortable, restored or replica car to the summit of the White Pass, through two tunnels, over trestles, and through remote valleys. Pass Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point and Dead Horse Gulchas your guide announces all the points of interest and tells the story of the Klondike Gold Rush. Reaching the White Pass summit at 2,865 feet, a seat exchange will occur allowing everyone to experience the excellent views during this three-hour round-trip rail journey. This narrow gauge railroad is an International Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. It shares this honor with the Panama Canal, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty, and is truly a World Wonder.

Haines is ideal for a walking tour and taking an up-close look at the history, Native culture, local plants, and present-day lifestyle of this small Alaskan town. A local guide will show you the highlights of Fort William H. Seward, including Officer's Row, Soap Suds Alley, the parade grounds, and the old barracks building. Visit the former army hospital that houses Alaska Indian Arts, where totem poles, masks and rattles are created. Board an open-air pontoon boat for an enchanting tour of beautiful Chilkoot Lake. Here, you may have the opportunity to observe spawning sockeye salmon, fierce bald eagles and, hopefully, giant brown (grizzly) bears as they feed upon the salmon, undisturbed by your presence. Mountain goats are also often seen grazing along the cliffs, while black bear and moose feed on the intermediate slopes in the late spring/early summer. From the coastal estuary to the glacial inlet river watch birds of all types. Virgin forests of spruce, hemlock, cottonwood and alder cloak the lower mountains while snowcapped peaks and glaciers shine above. Cruise along an ocean inlet, salmon-filled river and view a glacial lake by bicycle! A short and informative van ride takes you to the shore of Lutak Inlet where you begin your bike ride. Where the river meets the sea you cruise the flat paved road, watching for possible wildlife sightings including eagles, salmon, whales, sea lions and bears. Take in the gorgeous views across the emerald lake and inlet surrounded by glaciers, waterfalls, and jagged mountain peaks. This is a great tour to get some mild exercise and breath some pure Alaskan air!
