Sample Sightseeing Tours | Alaska Train Tour.
All Aboard! Join the magic of the steam train ride aboard the "Scenic Railway of the World." There is no railway quite like the White Pass & Yukon Route, built against all odds through some of the North's most ruggedly beautiful terrain. Over 110 years later, this narrow gauge railway is still in operation, a remnant of the last great gold rush and adventurous time in Alaska history.
On this 52-mile roundtrip, fully narrated ride, follow the footprints of the Klondike Gold Rush as you travel up one of the steepest grades in North America beyond the White Pass Summit to Fraser Meadows. Pulled by an authentic steam engine, enjoy the commentary and views from the comfort of your vintage railcar. A personal attendant will be able to tell stories and answer questions on the gold rush and how this narrow gauge railroad was declared an International Civil Engineering Landmark. At the Summit, raise your glass for a champagne or sparkling cider toast and receive an individually numbered brass ornament, certifying entry into the "White Pass Summit Club."

The Chilkoot Trail is the centerpiece of gold rush history and the main route to the riches of the Klondike. Today, the trail is a tranquil place of incredible beauty. Winding through lush rain forest, it is alive with birds, animals and wild flowers. The hike is 2 miles long climbing and descending 350 feet over Saintly Hill. Along the way your knowledgeable guide weaves an entertaining mixture of natural history and Klondike folklore. Where the trail reaches the banks of the Taiya River, you will board an 18-foot raft for a scenic float back down to the tidal estuary where the forest gives way to fields of beach greens and wild iris, and the granite walls of the fjord rise steeply to snow capped peaks and hanging glaciers. This trip has no white water. Enjoy a riverside snack before heading back to your ship.
