On this excursion you will: Take a short ride from the pier to Grand Cayman's Butterfly Farm where you will step into a tropical garden teeming with butterflies from around the globe and meet some of the world's most colorful creatures. See nature in all its beauty and diversity as you observe the life cycle of these fascinating animals from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly. Listen as your guide entertains you with commentary on the amazing butterflies' habits and the miracle of metamorphosis. Continue on with a brief drive to the historic Cayman Turtle Farm; open since 1968, the Cayman Turtle Farm is home to over 11,000 green sea turtles ranging in size from hatchling's to 600 pounds each. Pass through the Reception Building, and immediately see the larger turtles in the impressive Breeding Pond. Enjoy the opportunity to handle and take a photo with young turtles in the easily accessible display tanks. Learn about the facility's conservation efforts and how turtles are an integral part of the Caymanian lifestyle. Browse through the 3,500 square foot Boatswain's Beach retail centre for Cayman Turtle Farm souvenirs before the return journey to your ship. |
